Guide to obtaining a marriage registry certificate

Guide to obtaining a marriage registry certificate

Instructions for quickly requesting a marriage certificate

The marriage registry certificate is an official document issued by the Civil Registry Office of the Municipality where the marriage was celebrated or the marriage was transcribed.

It contains the main information relating to the marital union, such as the names of the spouses, date and place of the marriage, and may include any subsequent annotations, such as separation, divorce, or chosen property regime.

It is an essential document for numerous legal, administrative, and inheritance procedures, such as the declaration of succession, land registry transfers, updating family status, or closing joint accounts.

Compared to the marriage extract, the marriage registry certificate provides a different picture of the request.

Here is the guide to requesting a marriage certificate online through the Agenzia delle Successioni.
