Successions, online glyph: procedure for obtaining it

Successions, online glyph: procedure for obtaining it

Instructions for quickly requesting a copy of the glyph

The glyph is a code that proves the submission of the inheritance declaration.

For heirs, it is a fundamental document because it represents the only proof that allows them to demonstrate to banks, public offices, and third parties that the inheritance has actually been filed. Without the glyph, many transactions remain blocked. Among these, the most delicate is unfreezing the deceased's bank account, which banks authorize only after verifying that the heirs have actually taken over as account holders.

Unfreezing the deceased's bank account

By law, banks cannot release the deceased's assets until they receive documentation certifying the correct filing of the estate. The glyph is precisely that document. It certifies that the heirs have been identified, that the inheritance has been declared, and that the Revenue Agency has registered the matter.

Once the glyph has been delivered, the bank proceeds with an internal verification and, except in special cases, unblocks the current account, allowing the heirs to access the funds, close accounts, or transfer the liquidity according to their inheritance shares.

When to unblock the current account without the glyph

There is only one case where it is possible to unblock the current account without submitting the inheritance declaration: without the glyph. The law allows you to exempt yourself from filing the inheritance tax return when the deceased has exclusively bank/insurance relationships of less than 100,000 euros. In these cases, heirs can access the funds in the bank account by submitting a declaration in lieu of a notarial deed.

In fact, although no bank, post office, or insurance company can force heirs to submit the inheritance, due to company policy and to avoid errors, they can carry out checks by requesting a sworn affidavit or other supporting documentation.

Who issues the glyph

The glyph is issued exclusively from the Revenue Agency, through the competent local office, or through the tax drawer of the person who filed the return. This point is crucial. Only the person who physically submitted the inheritance can download the glyph, because the document is available in their tax drawer or in their reserved area.

The Agenzia delle Successioni can provide the glyph only for returns submitted through it. In these cases, the heir receives a certified copy, without having to contact other parties or wait for responses from third parties.

When the return was submitted by another professional, the Inheritance Agency can still intervene. We reopen discussions with the person who filed the file, request the release of the glyph, and accompany the heir until they obtain the document needed to unblock the bank account or complete other inheritance transactions. It's a facilitation service that avoids delays, delays, and misunderstandings, especially in cases where the original intermediary is unknown.

Receipt times

The timeframe depends on who filed the return. Once the application has been correctly filed, the glyph is immediately available in the intermediary's tax drawer. If the request must go through a local office of the Revenue Agency for paper inheritance declarations, processing times can vary from one to five business days, depending on the office's workload and the complexity of the procedure.

In addition to the copy of the glyph, the Agenzia delle Successioni can also handle the procurement of registry certificates, civil status records, and tax documents essential for managing any inheritance or administrative procedure in a complete and orderly manner.

On our page, you will find the complete list of documents obtainable with a single authorization, so Simple, compliant, and entirely digital. A process designed to reduce time, errors, and unnecessary steps.
